TheatreSquared is turning its stage over to laughs this Saturday.
The Fayetteville theater will host Tee Hee at T2, a comedy night featuring local comedians, on June 6th from 7 to 10 pm. The event marks one of the more ambitious standalone comedy showcases the theater has hosted in recent memory, bringing together nearly a dozen Northwest Arkansas performers for an evening of stand-up in the venue’s intimate Black Box space.
Stetson Banks, a Fayetteville-based comedian and producer, will headline the event. Banks has become a familiar face on the local comedy scene over the past several years, performing at open mics and producing shows across the region. In addition to his work as a comedian, he runs local karaoke events — a fact the event promotional materials highlight as part of his “triple threat” credentials alongside producing.
The show will be co-hosted by Tara Versey and Trey Smith-Mills, both active in the NWA comedy community. Versey has performed at various showcases in the Fayetteville area, while Smith-Mills has been involved in organizing comedy events locally.
The lineup includes Cammy, Ayla Sinclair, Sunny, Jonah Zapata, and Sarah Pollock, all of whom have performed at open mics and smaller showcases throughout the region. TheatreSquared described the event as an opportunity to showcase “homegrown talent” to a broader audience.
TheatreSquared, located on West Spring Street in downtown Fayetteville, has long been a cultural anchor in Northwest Arkansas. The nonprofit theater company produces multiple mainstage productions annually and has earned regional and national recognition for its work, including multiple awards from the American Theatre Critics Association. The venue’s Black Box space has hosted everything from staged readings to experimental performances, though standalone comedy events have been less common than its theatrical programming.
This event fits into a broader trend of comedy gaining traction in Fayetteville and the surrounding area. Open mic nights at various bars and venues across NWA have cultivated a small but dedicated community of both performers and audience members. Events like Tee Hee at T2 represent an effort to move comedy out of its typical bar settings and into more formal performance spaces.
Tickets for the event are available through TheatreSquared’s box office. The 7 pm start time places the event squarely in the early-evening slot, making it accessible for families or those who prefer not to attend late-night shows. The three-hour runtime gives the organizers room to accommodate all nine performers plus the two hosts.
For Northwest Arkansas residents looking for weekend entertainment options, the event offers something different from the typical bar comedy night. TheatreSquared’s venue provides a controlled environment with comfortable seating and acoustics designed for performance — a contrast to the often-crowded, noisy bar settings where most local comedy shows take place.
The June 6th date places the event near the end of the spring theater season, a period when many local performing arts organizations host special events and fundraisers. Fayetteville’s downtown district, already active during weekend evenings, will likely see additional foot traffic from theatergoers attending the show.
Comedy nights at theaters remain relatively rare in the region, though the format has grown in popularity in larger cities. TheatreSquared’s decision to host a multi-performer showcase suggests confidence in audience appetite for the format. Whether this becomes a recurring event may depend on turnout for this inaugural show.
For those unfamiliar with the local comedy scene, Tee Hee at T2 offers a low-commitment way to sample multiple performers in a single evening. The $15-20 price range (standard TheatreSquared event pricing) positions it competitively with other entertainment options in Fayetteville on a Saturday night.
