The excitement is palpable at Fayetteville High School, where students like Derrick “DJ” Hudson are making waves. DJ will join the basketball team at the University of Illinois Chicago, a move that’s likely to put a smile on the faces of many Razorback fans who have followed his high school career.

Cheerleading will also see some representation as Colee Ratchford signs with the University of Central Arkansas, while Stella Terry stays closer to home at the University of Arkansas. Over in track and field, cross country runners Ella Snively, Alan Gallardo-Lopez, and Elliana Harter are set to join Rhodes College, Florida State University, and Fort Lewis College, respectively.

The range of colleges and sports reflects the diverse talents nurtured right here in Fayetteville. Each student-athlete’s decision is a nod to both their hard work and the supportive community that has cheered them on through countless practices and competitions.

This annual signing day event is more than just a ceremony; it’s a celebration of both individual achievements and collective support from families, coaches, and friends. The seniors’ commitments underscore the vibrant sports culture at Fayetteville High, where athletics play a fundamental role in education and personal development.

The event will be held in the school gym, a place that’s become a second home for these athletes. Those interested in supporting the seniors are encouraged to attend and share in the jubilation. As these students take their next steps, they’ll carry the spirit of Fayetteville with them, adding a bit of purple pride to campuses nationwide.
