Updated: Missing Dog in Bentonville

A two-week search for a missing dog in Bentonville intensified this week after multiple attempts to bring her home came up short. The dog, named Scout, is described as extremely timid and has so far avoided contact with both residents and animal control officers trying to help.

Scout was last seen near the intersection of Moberly Lane and Southeast 14th Street. According to a post on Reddit Bentonville, residents and staff from Bentonville Animal Services spent several hours on Tuesday tracking her. They even attempted to dart her, but Scout remained out of reach. Her ongoing absence has neighbors and volunteers on high alert, sharing updates and scanning the area regularly.

“She won’t let anyone near her,” the owner said in the Reddit post. “We’re asking people in the area — especially those who drive down Moberly — to please go slow between 14th and the Sam’s Club. If you see her, please don’t approach. Call Animal Services.”

Bentonville Animal Services has responded to calls and is actively involved in efforts to locate Scout. The agency typically handles stray animals and owner reunifications, but Scout’s fearfulness has made this case more challenging. Animal Services recommends that residents who spot her avoid direct contact and instead report sightings immediately to increase the chances of a safe capture.

Scout is a small, light-colored dog, and while specific breed details weren’t included, her timid behavior suggests she may be disoriented or stressed. Residents in the surrounding neighborhoods — bordered roughly by the Walmart on Moberly, the residential area to the east, and the trail systems that connect to the Bentonville trail network — have been asked to keep an eye out.

Volunteers from local pet groups have also been sharing the search updates across social platforms. While no formal search party has been organized, residents are encouraged to share the information with others, particularly those who frequent the mapped search area or walk local trails.

Bentonville Animal Services can be reached at (479) 271-7777. When calling, residents should have as much information as possible about the sighting, including time, location, and description of the animal.
