Summer Camp | Playwriting Studio with TheatreSquared (Ages 14-18)

Teens ages 14 to 18 can explore the art of storytelling this summer at The Momentary in Bentonville, where a Playwriting Studio day camp will run June 22–26 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Hosted in collaboration with TheatreSquared, the camp offers young writers a chance to develop original plays under the guidance of professional teaching artists. Participants will learn foundational skills in character development, dialogue, and plot structure, while engaging in improvisation exercises and collaborative feedback sessions.

The weeklong program culminates in a showcase where campers present their work to family and friends. The camp takes place in the Atrium at The Momentary, the contemporary arts space located in Bentonville’s downtown arts district.

Registration is open now, with tickets priced at $200 for non-members and $160 for Momentary members. Interested families can reserve spots online.

A Creative Outlet for Teen Writers

For many teens, the opportunity to see their ideas come to life on stage is rare. The Playwriting Studio aims to bridge that gap by combining instruction with hands-on creation. The camp emphasizes not only the technical side of writing for performance but also the communal aspect of theatre-making.

Participants will spend afternoons in a supportive environment, learning how to craft compelling narratives that speak to live audiences. Through structured writing prompts and group activities, students are encouraged to take creative risks and build confidence in their artistic voice.

Teaching artists from TheatreSquared, a professional theatre company based in Northwest Arkansas, will lead daily sessions. The company has a history of engaging youth through educational programming, including in-school residencies and summer intensives.

“We’re excited to partner with The Momentary again to offer this unique experience,” said a TheatreSquared representative. “It’s a space where young people can experiment, express themselves, and connect with others who share their interests.”
