Springdale Har-Ber held on for a 21-16 victory over Little Rock Christian Friday night at Warrior Stadium in Little Rock, securing a hard-fought win against a fellow Class 7A contender.
The Wildcats improved to 2-1 on the season with the win, while the Warriors dropped to 1-2. The game featured multiple shifts in momentum, but the deciding factor was a sustained 15-play drive by Springdale Har-Ber that effectively consumed the final six minutes of game time and sealed the victory.
Trailing 21-10 early in the fourth quarter, Little Rock Christian engineered an 80-yard drive highlighted by a 17-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Haden Hall to receiver Maddox McClain, closing the gap to 21-16 with 6:20 remaining. Despite the pressure, the Wildcats’ offense managed to maintain possession and run down the clock, preventing a final comeback attempt.
“I’m very proud of our offense for finishing the game and not coming down to having our defense have to go back out there,” said Springdale Har-Ber head coach Aaron Danenhauer. “There’s no doubt, that was big. I’m just really proud of how our kids fought and battled. We faced adversity, and we need to see that adversity.”
Springdale Har-Ber took control early in the second half by opening a 21-7 lead on the first series after halftime. That drive featured a key 9-yard touchdown run that extended the Wildcats’ advantage before the Warriors mounted their late rally.
Little Rock Christian consistently challenged Springdale Har-Ber’s defense throughout the game, staying within striking distance and forcing the Wildcats to respond with sustained possession to protect the lead. The final drive by Har-Ber consumed nearly the entire final quarter, underscoring the importance of offensive execution in close games.
The game marked another competitive matchup between two programs expected to contend for the 7A postseason. Springdale Har-Ber, which had opened the season with one loss, demonstrated resilience in overcoming the late surge from Little Rock Christian, a program known for its disciplined approach and explosive quarterback play.
Springdale Har-Ber’s ability to control the clock and execute under pressure at critical moments will be vital as the team prepares to face a strong Bentonville squad in their next outing. Little Rock Christian, meanwhile, will look to regroup ahead of their upcoming district games.
This victory extends Springdale Har-Ber’s winning streak against Little Rock Christian in recent seasons and highlights the competitive balance emerging among Arkansas’ top high school football programs.
