September 10, 2026 Rogers Public Schools Celebrates Six National Merit Semifinalists

Rogers Public Schools announced that six students from its high schools have been named National Merit Semifinalists for the 2026-2027 academic year. The recognition places these students among the top 16,000 scorers nationally on the PSAT/NMSQT taken last fall, marking them as some of the highest-achieving scholars in Northwest Arkansas.

The six semifinalists represent both Rogers High School and Rogers Heritage High School. This distinction reflects rigorous academic standards and a competitive environment fostered within the district’s advanced programs and special academic tracks. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which administers the program, will now evaluate these semifinalists for potential advancement to Finalist status and scholarship awards based on additional academic records, recommendations, and extracurricular involvement.

Rogers Public Schools has been increasing its focus on advanced coursework, including career and technical education pathways and specialized programs designed to prepare students for post-secondary success. These students’ achievements are consistent with district goals to promote academic excellence and college readiness.

The district operates multiple high schools, including Rogers High School, Rogers Heritage High School, and the Rogers Academy of Leadership & Innovation, alongside middle and elementary schools serving the city. These results underscore the district’s efforts across all grade levels to cultivate a strong educational foundation.

In recent years, Rogers Public Schools have also expanded special programs for English learners, students with disabilities, and those requiring Section 504 accommodations, aiming for inclusivity alongside academic rigor. These semifinalist honors highlight the district’s ability to support high-achieving students within a diverse educational environment.

Beyond the classroom, Rogers students participate in a variety of extracurricular activities such as athletics, fine arts, and clubs that contribute to well-rounded development. Coupled with counseling and student support services, the district provides resources that encourage student success in and outside of academics.

Achieving National Merit Semifinalist status brings attention to the individual students’ dedication and effort as well as the support system provided by educators and families in Rogers. The rigorous standards required for this recognition position these students—and by extension the district—as competitive contenders in statewide and national academic communities.

The Rogers community, which includes areas like Pinnacle Hills and landmarks such as the Railyard, has invested in education as a pillar of growth and opportunity. These semifinalists represent the outcome of ongoing commitments to quality education within Benton County.

National Merit Finalist selection will be announced later this year. Finalists have the chance to earn scholarships sponsored by corporations, colleges, and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation itself, which could provide critical financial support for higher education.

Rogers Public Schools’ announcement aligns with other recent positive developments in the district, contributing to a broad picture of educational and community advancement within Northwest Arkansas. The district’s roster of distinguished students adds to local achievements in academics and beyond, providing measurable indicators of sustained performance.
