Rogers Teachers Honored at Annual Education Excellence Awards

A gentle buzz of chatter filled the room as educators, families, and friends gathered at the Rogers School District’s annual Education Excellence Awards. This year, the ceremony celebrated the dedication and passion of local teachers who have gone above and beyond to shape the lives of students and contribute to the community.

Among the honorees was Sarah Thompson, a fifth-grade teacher at Oakdale Middle School. Known for her innovative approach to science lessons, Thompson has been a beacon for fostering curiosity and critical thinking. Her knack for turning everyday classroom moments into engaging learning experiences earned her the Excellence in Teaching Award. As she received her accolade, her students’ voices echoed in her mind, encouraging her every step of the way, just as she had encouraged them.

Michael Delgado, a history teacher at Rogers High School, was also recognized with the Community Engagement Award. Delgado has played a pivotal role in integrating local history into his curriculum, partnering with the Rogers Historical Museum to create immersive learning trips that bring the past to life for his students. His efforts have not only enriched his students’ understanding of their heritage but also forged stronger ties between the school and the community.

“Our teachers do more than teach—they inspire, they lead, and they connect,” said Dr. Marissa Greene, Superintendent of Rogers School District, during her opening remarks. “Tonight, we honor those whose dedication is felt in every corner of our schools and community.”

The ceremony, held at the Pinnacle Hills Arts Center, offered a moment of reflection on the impact teachers have beyond the classroom. Award recipients shared stories of perseverance, creativity, and the simple joys of witnessing a student’s ‘aha’ moment. It was a night that underscored not just the academic achievements, but the heart and soul teachers pour into their work.

For many, the awards were a reminder of the ongoing commitment to education in Rogers. The district continues to innovate, as seen with the launch of their new STEM program for middle schoolers, emphasizing hands-on learning and real-world applications.

The evening concluded with a sense of unity and purpose, as attendees mingled over refreshments, swapping stories and sharing dreams for the future of Rogers education. It was a celebration of community spirit and the educators who breathe life into those dreams, day in and day out.
