The Arkansas Department of Commerce, Division of Aeronautics, named Rogers Executive Airport the state’s Airport of the Year during the Arkansas Airport Operators Association’s annual conference from September 21–23 in Rogers. Alongside that honor, Airport Director David R. Krutsch received the Airport Manager of the Year award.
Krutsch emphasized that both awards reflect the work of a collective team effort involving the airport staff, the Airport Commission, city leadership, and partners crucial to the airport’s day-to-day operations and its ongoing growth. Key collaborators include the Federal Aviation Administration, the Arkansas Division of Aeronautics, the local congressional delegation, Beaver Lake Aviation, and Walmart Aviation.
Rogers Executive Airport has long been a hub for business and private pilots in Northwest Arkansas, serving as more than just a gateway for the region’s growing economy. Those familiar with the airport will recognize the replica of Sam Walton’s 1964 Ercoupe 415 aircraft that hangs in the lobby of Beaver Lake Aviation, a nod to the Walmart founder’s legacy and the area’s aviation history.
Throughout the airport’s recent developments, Krutsch’s leadership has focused on strategic improvements and partnerships that bolster both infrastructure and community engagement. The recognition as Airport of the Year also highlights the airport’s role in supporting local businesses and connecting Rogers to other key markets.
Rogers Executive Airport sits as an essential piece of the city’s transportation network. Its influence extends through commercial and general aviation, supporting the daily needs of corporate travelers and recreational flyers alike. The airport’s steady rise parallels the region’s rapid growth, particularly around Pinnacle Hills and the expanding business corridors along New Hope Road and Walnut Street.
The distinctions awarded this year mark a milestone for Rogers, affirming its status as more than just Bentonville’s neighbor in the aviation field. It enhances a distinct identity for the city and its airport amid the evolving economic landscape of Northwest Arkansas.
With these new accolades, the airport stands poised to pursue further improvements and partnerships. As development continues, its role as a regional airport serving Benton County and the larger NWA area remains a priority, especially with backing from both local and federal resources.
The city itself hosted the recent Arkansas Airport Operators Association conference, bringing aviation professionals to Rogers and spotlighting its capacity as a center for transportation and commerce. Events like these foster ongoing relationships across the aviation industry that will likely yield benefits for the city and the airport for years to come.
For locals, the airport is more than just a travel hub — it’s a piece of Rogers’ story, connected to longtime businesses and landmarks. It’s fitting that both the airport and its manager receive statewide recognition at a time when the region’s population and economy continue to surge.
