The University of Arkansas Razorback Marching Band has been selected to perform in the 2027 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
Honestly, this feels like a massive flex for Northwest Arkansas. We’re talking about the 101st edition of the parade, scheduled for November 2027, but get this: the Hogs beat out more than 100 marching bands from across the country to earn their invite. It sends a signal to the rest of the nation that the talent we have grinding here in the Physical Plant Stadium is premier-level stuff.
Band Director Chase Jones announced the good news to thousands of Razorback fans during the annual “Pignic” event last Sunday. Parade organizers worked close with university officials to keep the process totally under wraps until the band director could break the news in person, which finally happened right after the Fancy Pig Competition wrapped up.
For a city this size, having a national spotlight shine on the Razorback Marching Band puts our community on the map in a way that feels almost surreal. When you think about it, we aren’t just about corporate trickle-down or buying cheap goods anymore; we’re about high-quality, homegrown culture performing on the world’s biggest stage. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or just someone who appreciates a good pageant.
The Razorbacks will join the ranks of college bands and entertainment acts that perform in the middle of Times Square, a location that would cost a fortune to rent or stage in almost any other place in Arkansas.
The competitive application process has been rigorous, but the Razorback Marching Band solidified its spot through a combination of incredible artistry and pure determination. Seeing this level of recognition for local students makes you realize how much support there is for the arts in Fayetteville.
