Pottery on the Patio set for Oct. 17 at Community Creative Center

Fayetteville’s Community Creative Center will host its annual Pottery on the Patio event on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., inviting the public to jump into a day full of hands-on art activities without spending a dime.

The event offers a chance to get behind a pottery wheel and try making ceramics firsthand. Free interactive pottery wheel experiences will be available to all attendees, making it easy to test your hand at shaping clay—something that would easily cost $30 or more in a major city studio.

Beyond pottery, visitors can paint take-home tiles, dive into a plein air watercolor class, or create their own clay pizza masterpieces. There’s even button making and t-shirt printing for anyone wanting a personal art souvenir. Honestly, it’s like a mini art festival packed into one place, perfect for families and creatives alike.

Live music adds to the atmosphere with performances by singer-songwriter Jacob Sanderson, blues musician Cartha Collete, and DJs Lando and Taigo spinning tracks throughout the day. The Walton Arts Center is contributing by providing refreshments such as popcorn, ice cream, and a bar service—helping keep the vibe relaxed and fun.

It’s a great way to explore creative outlets without the usual cost barriers. In big cities, a day like this might come with ticket prices or workshop fees, making Fayetteville’s free event a genuine community gift. And look, with the arts scene growing in Northwest Arkansas, events like Pottery on the Patio play a role in making creativity accessible and visible.

The Community Creative Center itself has been a hub for local artists and anyone wanting to get their hands dirty in the arts for years, offering classes and studio space. This annual event emphasizes that art should be approachable—not just for pros but anyone with curiosity.

For Fayetteville residents or anyone in Northwest Arkansas interested in trying something new or just soaking up local culture, Pottery on the Patio offers an afternoon where you can literally make art with your own hands, enjoy music, and connect with other community members—all without having to book a pricey art class or spend a weekend searching for something to do.
