Parks and Recreation Department taking over full operations of Rogers Activity Center

The Rogers Activity Center will now be fully operated by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, marking the end of a decades-long collaboration with the nonprofit Rogers Community School Recreation Association. The transition follows a City Council resolution passed on Tuesday, which also included an amendment to the 2026 budget to account for the center’s operational costs.

The budget amendment brings in $397,592 of operating revenue, enabling the city to cover staffing and other expenses. This revenue is derived from various sources: $199,160 from youth sports, $92,440 from adult sports, $49,955 from fitness and enrichment programs, and $56,037 from miscellaneous activities.

This change in management comes as the Rogers Activity Center continues to be a vibrant hub for community activities, nestled in an area where locals gather for everything from aerial trapeze yoga to youth basketball leagues. The center, located in a lively part of Rogers, has long been a place where residents of all ages come together for fitness and fun.

The decision to bring the center under the full management of the Parks and Recreation Department reflects a commitment to streamline services and enhance the recreational offerings available to the community. As Rogers continues to grow, the city’s ability to directly manage the center allows for greater flexibility in responding to the evolving needs of its residents.

For the residents who frequent the center, this transition is expected to be seamless, with no immediate changes to the programs or schedules they’ve come to enjoy. The Parks and Recreation Department’s involvement is likely to bring about new opportunities, potentially expanding the range of activities and classes offered.

In a city where community spirit thrives, the Rogers Activity Center stands as a testament to the power of local engagement and the importance of accessible recreational spaces. With this new chapter, the Parks and Recreation Department aims to maintain the center’s cherished role in the community while paving the way for future developments.

This shift in operations also underscores the city’s dedication to fostering a healthy and active lifestyle among its residents. With the support of the City Council and the community, the Rogers Activity Center is poised to continue being a cornerstone of recreation and wellness in the area.
