Oakdale Middle School in Rogers completes $37 million renovation

Oakdale Middle School in Rogers completed a $37 million renovation after three years of construction, delivering upgraded facilities that include a new gymnasium, locker rooms, and tornado shelters designed to improve student safety and athletic programs.

The project focused on modernizing the campus to meet current educational and safety standards. A new gym was constructed to accommodate physical education classes and sports activities, providing updated locker rooms to support student athletes. Additionally, the renovation emphasized emergency preparedness with the installation of tornado shelters, responding to the region’s weather risks.

The extensive renovation aims to enhance the learning environment for roughly 700 students enrolled at Oakdale Middle School. In addition to physical improvements, the updated spaces are expected to support extracurricular activities and school functions more effectively.

This renovation is part of the broader efforts by Rogers Public Schools to invest in infrastructure that responds to both educational demands and community safety. Funding for the $37 million project came through a combination of local bonds and district resources allocated over the past several years.

School district officials have noted that the upgraded facilities align with the district’s goals to maintain safe, modern, and versatile campuses throughout Rogers. The inclusion of tornado shelters is particularly significant given Arkansas’ history with severe weather events, ensuring students and staff have secure areas during emergencies.

With construction now complete, Oakdale Middle School has begun fully utilizing the new spaces this academic year. Staff and students are adapting to the improvements, which also provide more opportunities for community engagement through athletic events and school gatherings.

This investment reflects ongoing commitments within the Rogers Public Schools system to update aging infrastructure, enhancing both safety features and educational amenities. Similar projects have been underway across Northwest Arkansas as districts respond to increasing enrollment and the need for modern facilities.
