NWA Women’s Shelter: What They Need Right Now (And How You Can Help)

The NWA Women’s Shelter is at capacity and running low on essential supplies — and they’re asking the community for help. Right now, the shelter’s most urgent needs are new pillows, twin-size bedding sets, diapers (sizes 4-6), and gas station gift cards for survivors relocating to safe housing.

The shelter serves survivors of domestic violence and their children across Benton and Washington counties, providing emergency housing, legal advocacy, counseling, and safety planning. In 2025, the shelter served more than 800 individuals and answered over 5,000 crisis calls.

“People often ask what they can do when they hear about domestic violence,” said shelter leadership. “This is what you can do — show up with supplies, donate your time, or give financially. Every contribution keeps someone safe tonight.”

Volunteers are especially needed for the shelter’s children’s program, which provides age-appropriate activities and tutoring for kids staying at the shelter. Training is provided. The shelter also needs bilingual volunteers who can assist Spanish-speaking survivors navigating the legal and social services systems.

Donations can be dropped off at the shelter’s administrative office (address available by calling their main line for safety reasons). Financial gifts of any amount are accepted at nwawomensshelter.org. If you or someone you know needs help, the 24-hour crisis line is (479) 246-4878.
