Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation events raise funds for local causes

Supporters of the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank gathered for the second annual Flavor of Giving fundraiser on Aug. 27 at the Osage House in Cave Springs. The event offered an evening of local flavors, bringing attention and resources to fight food insecurity in Benton County and the wider Northwest Arkansas region.

Attendees moved between stations where chefs and restaurants showcased dishes crafted to highlight fresh, regional ingredients. The scent of spices and simmering sauces hung in the warm air, mingling with the murmur of conversations from people united in purpose. Every bite carried the underlying message that food is both a necessity and a connection point for community resilience.

The Food Bank serves thousands of families across the region, distributing millions of pounds of food each year. Events like Flavor of Giving play a crucial role in generating the funds necessary to keep that work moving forward, especially as demand grows faster than donations in many cases.

Just a day after Flavor of Giving, the Northwest Arkansas chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation held its Wine Opener benefit on Aug. 28 at Ledger in Bentonville. Gathered in a space filled with art and laughter, supporters toasted to progress against cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system.

The Wine Opener featured local wineries and live music, but the night was centered on honor and hope. NWA’s Finest, a group of honorees recognized for their contributions to the foundation’s mission, stood together for a framed moment just before the program began. Their dedication and stories added weight beneath the clink of glasses and the flow of wine.

Both events signify much more than fundraising efforts; they offer tangible reminders that behind every organization are people driven by personal stakes and community pride. The Northwest Arkansas Food Bank relies on its donor network to ensure food reaches empty kitchen tables, while the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation depends on advocacy and funding to support research and families hosting children who face daily health battles.

These gatherings also underscore the power of place. Holding Flavor of Giving at Osage House connected an emerging culinary scene with philanthropic momentum, while the Wine Opener’s location in Bentonville tapped into the city’s growing reputation for arts and culture mingling with civic engagement.

Organizations like these serve Northwest Arkansas not only through their immediate missions but by weaving networks of care that ripple out across towns and households. This year’s events remind us that every dollar raised and every conversation sparked feeds into something steadfast: a stronger, healthier community.

More opportunities to support both causes will continue through the fall as fundraising campaigns and volunteer activities unfold. Engaging with the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation provides a way for residents to address urgent needs and invest in long-term change.
