North Little Rock’s Flyway Brewing Company opened a taproom and restaurant on Walmart’s Home Office campus last week, bringing a slice of East Little Rock beer culture to the northwest corner of Bentonville on Aug. 10. The spot joins a growing cluster of dining and retail options on the north side of the corporate campus, filling a space previously occupied by a different restaurant concept. They didn’t have to look much farther than the intersection of Walton Blvd and Razorback Rd, where the new development is happening. The location places the brewery within a block or so of many of the new headquarters buildings going up on the north side. It’s a different vibe from their digs back in North Little Rock. At the Old Mill site, history and river views dominate the scene. Here, the focus is on the flow of afternoon foot traffic from the office and the neighborhood, which seems to be popping up faster than a day-old sour. There’s a familiar comfort in walking into a Flyway anywhere, really. The menu leans on the kinds of formulations they’ve refined in Little Rock—hazy IPAs, crisp lagers, and stout-forward stouts—but the atmosphere is distinctly Westside of the Y. You’ll catch folks popping in on breaks or staying for an early dinner before heading out toward the Paper Hill Trails. For the company, this feels less like a branching out and more like a homecoming. They said from the start that they wanted to be part of the NWA fabric, and there isn’t a better place to land if you want to catch a piece of the college-town energy that the Bentonville Square has been cultivating for a decade. You don’t need a badge to get in, though employees certainly get their fair share of perks from a location literally inside their place of work. If you’re heading up that way, it’s right in the mix of the new mixed-use corridor forming around the northwest edge of the campus, putting it a quick ride from Crystal Bridges or a jog down the hilly trails north of town.
