A motorcycle rider was listed in critical condition on Sunday morning following a two-vehicle collision on a winding stretch of North Water Tower Road in Bentonville.
Bentonville Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene around 5:53 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck. The collision occurred just south of the intersection with Battlefield Boulevard, a location where the road widens and curves before heading toward Crystal Bridges.”
According to the police news release, the pickup truck was traveling south on North Water Tower Road while attempting to negotiate a left curve. The northbound motorcycle, which was also attempting to navigate the same curve, reportedly lost control and drifted into the southbound lane. The motorcycle then struck the side of the pickup truck.
Emergency responders transported the motorcycle rider to a local hospital after the accident was confirmed. Although the updated details regarding the rider’s condition indicated a transition from life-threatening to critical status early Sunday, the situation remained serious.
Drivers who travel the roads around Bentonville know that North Water Tower connects the traffic moving from the west side of town toward the military history district. The specific area where this happened—just south of Battlefield—is a relatively straight section that leads into tighter bends, which asks a lot of drivers to maintain speeds and distances, whether they are on two wheels or four.
