Kickoff on the Square set for Friday in downtown Fayetteville as residents encouraged to celebrate Razorbacks

Fayetteville’s downtown will come alive Friday with the launch of Kickoff on the Square, a new pregame event designed to celebrate Razorbacks football spirit each Friday before home games. The Experience Fayetteville Visitors Center at 21 S. Block Ave. will host a full day of activities from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., inviting fans of all ages to gather and engage ahead of kickoff weekend.

The event kicks off concurrently with a “trailgating” experience set to debut this weekend for the Razorbacks’ football home opener, providing multiple ways for Fayetteville residents and visitors to show their team pride. Experience Fayetteville, the city’s tourism bureau, is organizing Kickoff on the Square as part of a broader effort to enhance gameday festivities downtown.

Family-friendly programming will extend throughout the day, with complimentary food and spirited activities planned for fans. The Bank of Fayetteville will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. serving gameday-themed snacks while supplies last, adding to the festive atmosphere on the Downtown Square.

One of the cornerstone traditions at the event will be the chance for fans to “call the Hogs” together, a vocal Razorbacks rallying cry deeply rooted in University of Arkansas football culture. Fans will gather on the square for three scheduled Hog call sessions at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m., creating communal moments that amplify the connection between team and town.

As the afternoon winds down, the Downtown Square will light up at 5 p.m., signaling the close of Kickoff on the Square and setting the tone for the weekend’s game-day energy. This new weekly event aims to forge a stronger connection between Fayetteville’s vibrant downtown and the University of Arkansas football schedule.

Experience Fayetteville, overseen by the Fayetteville Advertising and Promotion Commission, is leveraging Kickoff on the Square to encourage fans not just to watch the Razorbacks but to celebrate locally, supporting downtown businesses and creating opportunities for families and solo visitors alike to enjoy Razorbacks culture in a welcoming public space.

Kickoff on the Square will happen every Friday before home games, establishing a consistent destination for fans eager to immerse themselves in Razorbacks spirit beyond the stadium. The initiative adds a new layer to Fayetteville’s gameday culture, complementing existing tailgate traditions and enhancing the city’s role as a football town.

This event creates a space that’s accessible and inclusive, suitable for families seeking daytime activities as well as solo fans looking to connect. With free food offerings and interactive Hog call sessions, it lowers barriers for community members to join in the pregame excitement.

Downtown Fayetteville’s growing collection of trails, eateries, and cultural attractions will provide a well-rounded backdrop for Kickoff on the Square. Fans can easily explore other parts of downtown before or after participating, making it a natural hub that supports local business alongside Razorbacks fandom.

Additional gameday activities, like the newly announced trailgating experience that begins with the season opener, ensure multiple touchpoints for fans from various backgrounds to celebrate football traditions. Kickoff on the Square serves as a direct invitation from the city’s tourism team for the community to join in and show their spirit in a centralized, lively setting.

The commitment from local partners such as the Bank of Fayetteville, along with Experience Fayetteville’s coordination, reflects a clear investment in making game days more engaging and community-oriented. Regularly scheduled events like this can strengthen downtown’s weekend vitality during football season, benefiting both residents and businesses.
