Jones Center and Walmart to create a regional volunteer center

The Jones Center for Families in Springdale just got a boost from Walmart, thanks to a $1.2 million grant aimed at establishing the Northwest Arkansas Regional Volunteer Center. This new hub for community service is set to open its doors in 2027, bringing together resources and opportunities for volunteers across the area.

The center will be a first-of-its-kind initiative in Northwest Arkansas, centralizing volunteer efforts and connecting individuals with meaningful service opportunities. The collaboration between the Jones Center and Walmart is seen as a significant step in fostering a culture of volunteerism in the region, which has deep roots in community support and engagement.

Once operational, the center aims to streamline the process for residents eager to contribute their time and talents to local causes. With the backing of Walmart and its foundation, the center is expected to not only enhance volunteer efforts but also address critical needs in the community by supporting various non-profit organizations. The goal is to create a centralized hub that will serve as a bridge between volunteers and organizations looking for help, making it easier for people to get involved and make a difference.

Kim Johnson, Executive Director of the Jones Center, expressed enthusiasm about the project, noting that it aligns with their mission to strengthen families and community ties. “This partnership with Walmart allows us to expand our reach and impact more lives throughout the region,” she said. The grant comes at a time when the demand for volunteer services is steadily increasing, and the new center is anticipated to play a crucial role in meeting those needs.

Walmart, headquartered in Bentonville, has long been a key player in local philanthropy, consistently supporting initiatives that benefit the Northwest Arkansas community. This latest investment is part of their ongoing commitment to fostering community development and engagement.
