The Fayetteville City Council is considering a new development proposal to bring a grocery store and gas station complex to the intersection of Crossover and Zion roads. This Planned Zoning District (PZD) is part of the agenda for the council’s meeting on March 5, which also includes several other rezoning requests.
The proposed grocery store and gas station would be a significant addition to the area, potentially providing more convenient shopping and fuel options for local residents. The PZD process allows the council to tailor zoning regulations specifically for this development, which can address any local concerns about traffic, noise, or environmental impact.

In addition to the PZD, the council is reviewing a payment to a homeowner on North Fallin Avenue related to a sewer damage claim. This payment is meant to compensate the homeowner for damages incurred, highlighting the city’s efforts to address infrastructure issues proactively.
Three rezoning requests are also under consideration. The first involves land on South Willow Avenue, where changes could affect future residential or commercial developments. Another rezoning request pertains to property at the Stonebridge Meadows Golf Club. This area has seen increasing interest due to its proximity to recreational amenities, suggesting potential residential or mixed-use growth.
The final rezoning item concerns a parcel on East Ash Street. These decisions about land use and zoning illustrate the ongoing changes in Fayetteville as it adapts to growth and development pressures.
As part of the meeting agenda, the council will also discuss vacating a portion of land on East Center Street. This action typically involves transferring unused public land to private ownership, potentially facilitating new developments or community projects.
The Council meeting commenced at 5:30 p.m. on March 5, in Room 219 at City Hall. For those unable to attend in person, the proceedings are available via Zoom and live-streamed on the city’s YouTube channel. With Council members Bob Stafford, D’Andre Jones, Sarah Moore, Mike Wiederkehr, Scott Berna, Teresa Turk, and Mayor Molly Rawn present, the discussions are set to address these pressing local issues, despite the absence of members Sarah Bunch and Monique Jones.
The decisions made in this meeting could significantly shape the development trajectory of Fayetteville, impacting residents, businesses, and the community’s overall growth strategy. These discussions are crucial as they reflect the city’s broader efforts to manage growth while addressing residents’ needs and maintaining Fayetteville’s character.
