ENTERTAINMENT: ‘Our Art’ exhibit opening at Walton Arts Center

The Walton Arts Center’s sixth annual “Our Art, Our Region, Our Time” exhibition opens Friday at the Porter Art Warehouse in Fayetteville, showcasing over 100 pieces from 86 artists across 22 cities in Northwest Arkansas. The exhibit, which runs through Dec. 20, reflects the region’s rich creative community with works from a diverse group including Fayetteville, Bentonville, Bella Vista, Siloam Springs, and Ozark.

This year’s exhibition features selections from a pool of 659 submissions by 371 artists, highlighting a strong local artistic presence. Visitors can expect a variety of styles and media, with pieces like “A Lesson From the Ferret” by Babette Blume of Siloam Springs, “Rat Couple (Anicurio Collection #46)” by Bella Vista’s Keith Harrop, and Bentonville artist Dylan Yarter’s contemplative “All Cooped Up.” Fayetteville’s Keeley C. Morgan contributed “Shellephone,” while Stephen Driver from Ozark presents the mixed-media “Frog Salamander Ozark Moon Jar.” Susan Idlet from Fayetteville offers “First Feathered Fellowship of the Sainted Crow,” rounding out a collection that honors the region’s unique landscape and culture.

The opening reception takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Alexander Gallery inside the Porter Art Warehouse, located at 212 N. West Avenue in Fayetteville. Admission to the reception is free but spots are limited, so early arrival is recommended for those wanting to mix with local artists and collectors.

The exhibition exemplifies Walton Arts Center’s ongoing investment in nurturing and showcasing local talent. By hosting this regional show, the center creates a spotlight for artists whose work might otherwise be overlooked outside individual communities scattered across Benton and Washington counties.

“Our Art” not only brings fresh energy to the Northwest Arkansas art scene but also appeals to visitors interested in the stories behind the pieces and artists who call these hills and towns home. It’s a moment to see how local creativity intersects with the cultural fabric of the region—a reminder that NWA’s growth isn’t just about big-box retail or new infrastructure, but also about cultivating vibrant cultural expressions.

For art lovers who frequent the Walton Arts Center downtown or have caught shows at the Fayetteville Public Library or Crystal Bridges, this exhibit offers another chance to dive into the area’s evolving art scene. And for those who’ve driven along West Avenue or browsed the galleries near the Fayetteville square, it’s a familiar place to support local creativity without having to head out of town.

With winter approaching, the exhibit also provides a welcoming indoor destination for families, students, and collectors seeking to experience the varied voices of NWA artists. Whether you’re looking to discover emerging talent or reconnect with familiar names, “Our Art, Our Region, Our Time” makes clear that the region’s creative pulse is strong and diverse.

The exhibition will remain open through Dec. 20, offering ample time to explore the variety of works representing the spirit and stories of Northwest Arkansas.
