Dr. William G. Jones has been named Market President for Arkansas by CommonSpirit Health, the parent organization of CHI St. Vincent, effective immediately. In this role, Jones will oversee operations across the state, including CHI St. Vincent facilities in Northwest Arkansas.
Jones brings more than two decades of healthcare leadership to the position. Before his new appointment, he served as President of CHI St. Vincent Morrilton and most recently as President of CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs. His tenure has included leading hospital expansions, improving patient outcomes, and increasing access to care in central Arkansas.
CHI St. Vincent operates multiple facilities across Arkansas, including hospitals in Bentonville, Fort Smith, and Little Rock. The system is one of the state’s largest healthcare providers and a major employer, with over 8,000 staff members statewide. In Northwest Arkansas, CHI St. Vincent employs more than 2,000 people across its hospitals in Bentonville and Fort Smith, and its outpatient centers in Rogers and Springdale.
Leadership in a Growing Market
The appointment comes as healthcare demand continues to rise in Arkansas, particularly in fast-growing regions like Northwest Arkansas. Benton County, home to over 280,000 residents, has seen consistent population increases driven by corporate relocations and job growth. That expansion has created pressure on local healthcare infrastructure and increased the need for regional leadership.
“Dr. Jones’ experience in both clinical and administrative roles makes him well-suited to guide our mission-driven work across Arkansas,” said a spokesperson for CommonSpirit Health. “His deep understanding of rural and urban healthcare challenges will be critical as we continue to expand access and improve outcomes for patients.”
Jones began his career with CHI St. Vincent in 2003 as Chief of Staff at St. Vincent Morrilton. He later became Medical Director of the hospital’s Chest Pain Center and was appointed President in 2013. Under his leadership, the facility expanded its emergency services and added a state-of-the-art cardiac rehabilitation center.
In 2019, he was promoted to President of CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs, where he led a $20 million renovation of the hospital’s surgical services and expanded outpatient offerings. His work helped reduce patient transfer times to specialty centers and improved access to advanced care for residents in the area.
Jones is a graduate of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed his residency at Washington University in St. Louis. He has served on several healthcare boards and is a past president of the Arkansas Chapter of the American College of Physicians.
Impact on Northwest Arkansas
As Market President, Jones will work closely with hospital leadership teams across Arkansas, including those in Northwest Arkansas. The region’s healthcare landscape has evolved rapidly in recent years, with CHI St. Vincent opening new outpatient centers and expanding services in response to population growth.
In Bentonville, CHI St. Vincent operates a full-service hospital and a growing network of primary care and specialty clinics. The system has invested heavily in technology and telehealth services to better serve patients across the region. In 2023, the Bentonville hospital added a new 12-bed emergency department and expanded its women’s health services.
Jones’ appointment signals a continued commitment to local investment. According to hospital officials, CHI St. Vincent plans to add 150 new positions in Northwest Arkansas over the next two years, including clinical and support roles.
“We’re focused on meeting the needs of our growing communities,” said Jones in a statement. “That means continuing to invest in people, technology, and services that bring high-quality care closer to home.”
