Centerton police are currently investigating a report of a physical assault that occurred Saturday night near the intersection of Rose and Persimmon Streets, where a woman says a man armed with a knife attacked her before being bitten by her dog.
Officers responded to the scene at 9:26 p.m. following a report of a man brandishing a knife and physically assaulting a woman who was walking her pet. The incident happened on Persimmon Street as the woman was heading westbound, originating from Rose Street.
This area of the Benton County school district is known for its residential density and active walking paths that connect the community to the broader Northwest Arkansas trail system. Residents in the area rely on street lighting and connectivity for safe late-night strolls.
According to a news release from the Centerton Police Department, the woman observed a man walking westbound on the same stretch of road who was later identified as the suspect. She reported that after passing him, the man brandished a silver-colored knife toward her, which triggered an altercation.
The suspect reportedly physically assaulted the woman during the encounter. The woman’s dog intervened, biting the man. The suspect then fled the area on foot and has not yet been located by authorities.
Police are appealing to the public for assistance. The suspect is described as an Indian male standing between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, darker-colored loosely fitting denim jeans, and brown work-style boots. The man also had a black-and-gray mustache and facial stubble.
