Brandom Gengelbach, the president and CEO of the Bentonville Area Chamber of Commerce, plans to transition from his role effective October 31.
The announcement came via a Wednesday news release involving discussions with Board Chair Chris Schnurbusch and the organization’s Executive Committee about the group’s next chapter.
Gengelbach started in October 2023, taking the helm of an organization that functions as a central nervous system for the region’s increasingly fast-paced growth. In Northwest Arkansas, few groups carry as much weight in local policy discussions or business development as the Chamber, largely due to the sheer volume of corporate residents who rely on the organization to navigate tax incentives, infrastructure, and workforce challenges.
During his tenure, Gengelbach has been involved in critical regional planning. He recently advocated for the Northwest Arkansas Regional Industrial and Technology Development Authority during a Benton County Quorum Court meeting, speaking out in favor of a tricounty agreement aimed at bolstering industrial hubs and tech sectors.
Who will step in to manage the chamber’s workforce and membership base remains a question mark. The board has not yet announced a timeline for the search.
For now, the focus remains on how the organization supports local businesses and tax revenue as the region ramps up for another round of development talks. The shift in leadership comes at a time when the community is closely watching the evolution of local agreements and corporate footprints, particularly as rental markets and permanent roll-off agreements become focal points for residents and business owners alike.
