Bentonville and Rogers announce trio of road closures planned for this week

Bentonville and Rogers drivers should plan alternate routes this week as three road closures affect key corridors in Benton County. Two closures in Bentonville and one in Rogers will impact traffic during weekday hours, officials say.

Bentonville has scheduled two closures for Wednesday, June 17, both from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Southwest Barron Road will be closed between Southwest Regional Airport Boulevard and Southwest Opal Road to accommodate utility line work. At the same time, Southwest North Fork Street will be closed between Southwest Regional Airport Boulevard and Southwest Heritage Avenue for similar utility improvements.

These two closures in Bentonville are intended to support ongoing infrastructure upgrades in the Southwest part of the city, near the Northwest Arkansas National Airport area. Motorists heading to or from the airport or surrounding neighborhoods will want to allow extra travel time or seek alternate routes during daytime hours.

Meanwhile, in Rogers, the intersection of Olrich and Fourth streets has been closed since Monday, June 15, and will remain closed through Thursday, June 18. Local officials did not specify the exact nature of the work, but the multi-day closure suggests either extensive road repairs or utility line maintenance.

Residents and commuters who rely on accessing Fourth Street via Olrich will need to reroute around this intersection. City crews appear to be working vigorously to reopen the intersection by the end of the week to minimize disruptions.

These closures come amid broader layers of infrastructure improvements happening across Benton County. Bentonville officials recently addressed recurring noise complaints at the city council, while Rogers continues to manage growing traffic from new developments and commercial growth.

The closures highlight the balancing act of maintaining and upgrading transportation infrastructure in rapidly developing parts of Northwest Arkansas. Southwest Barron Road and Southwest North Fork Street serve as important connectors between residential areas and the airport, while Fourth Street in downtown Rogers acts as a key local thoroughfare.

Travelers who frequent these corridors should consult local maps or GPS apps to identify the best detours. For example, drivers using Barron Road might consider using Southwest Regional Airport Boulevard fully or shifting to adjacent east-west roadways as permitted. In Rogers, side streets parallel to Fourth Street may offer faster passage during the closure.

Both Bentonville and Rogers encourage motorists to exercise caution around the work zones and remain patient. The utility and road work underway will contribute to smoother and safer transportation once completed.
