The Benton County Clerk’s Office will extend its hours this Monday, Oct. 7, staying open until 7:30 p.m. to accommodate voters registering for the 2026 General Election. The extension is a final chance for residents to submit voter registration applications before the official deadline that day.
The office, located at 215 E. Central Ave. in downtown Bentonville, typically closes earlier in the afternoon but will remain open later Monday to ensure all last-minute registrants can get processed in time. This move aims to remove barriers for those who need to register to vote ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm election.
Registering to vote in Benton County is a straightforward process, and the clerk’s office encourages residents to come in person before Monday’s cutoff. Voter registration forms can also be found at locations like the Bentonville Public Library, where local groups such as the Benton County League of Women Voters have been conducting outreach efforts over the summer.
Jackie Day, a member of the League of Women Voters, shared that their ongoing registration drives have made visible progress, including registering voters who had never participated before. One memorable registrant was a 74-year-old man who admitted it was “about time” he signed up to vote.
Increasing voter registration remains a high priority as NWA prepares for the upcoming general election. Extended office hours reflect the commitment to make registration as accessible as possible. Residents can register to vote in person at the clerk’s office during normal hours and now have additional time Monday evening to meet the deadline.
Election officials remind residents that registration must be completed by Monday to be eligible to vote in the Nov. 3 election. Those who miss this window will have to wait until future registration periods to participate in local, state, or federal elections.
For Benton County residents who still haven’t registered, Monday is the final in-person opportunity at the clerk’s office. With the 7:30 p.m. extended closing, it’s a practical chance to stop in after work or other daytime commitments. Completing registration now avoids headaches on Election Day.
Voter registration enables residents to participate in shaping local policies, school boards, and city governments, as well as state and federal offices. The Benton County Clerk’s extended hours show local officials’ efforts to engage more voters and increase democratic participation in Northwest Arkansas.
