Arkansas finalizes 2026-27 nonconference basketball schedule

Arkansas men’s basketball announced its 2026-27 nonconference schedule Thursday, setting up a lineup featuring some of college basketball’s biggest names. The Razorbacks will host eight regular-season games at Bud Walton Arena, including high-profile matchups against Virginia, Indiana, Michigan State, North Carolina, and Arizona.

Arkansas will open the nonconference slate on Nov. 3 with a home game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, marking the first meeting between the two programs. After that, the team travels to Washington for a Nov. 8 game against the Cavaliers, a tough road test early in the season. The Razorbacks then return home for a pair of games: Robert Morris on Nov. 11 and Central Arkansas on Nov. 13.

Before the regular season officially begins, Arkansas will also play two exhibition games at home, taking on Gonzaga on Oct. 24 and Memphis on Oct. 28 at Bud Walton Arena. These exhibitions offer fans a close look at the team’s progress during preseason.

The schedule takes a tough road trip next, lining Arkansas up against several storied basketball programs. After their home games in early November, the Hogs head back out on the road to face Indiana on Nov. 17 and Michigan State on Nov. 20. Both opponents bring rich basketball traditions and will test Arkansas early and often.

Returning to Fayetteville, Arkansas will play three more home games, hosting North Carolina on Nov. 24, followed by Arizona on Nov. 28 and Eastern Illinois on Dec. 3. These matchups promise plenty of action for Razorback fans, especially with Bud Walton Arena continuing to be a tough venue for visitors.

Coach John Calipari’s team faces a demanding early schedule, with significant travel and games against multiple top-tier programs. The mix of home-and-away matchups will offer plenty of opportunities to gauge progress before conference play kicks off. The road games at Virginia, Indiana, and Michigan State stand out for their potential to prepare the team for the grind of the SEC schedule.

The 2026-27 schedule is notable not just for its marquee opponents, but for the careful balance of home games that should fill Bud Walton Arena with excited fans. The Razorbacks have built a strong home court atmosphere on Garland Avenue, and this slate gives local fans plenty to mark on their calendars.

Playing Gonzaga and Memphis in exhibitions adds another layer of regional basketball flavor before conference action. Both programs have solid reputations and could provide useful tune-ups. The Arkansas-Gonzaga exhibition will especially pique interest, given Gonzaga’s national profile and recent success.

This schedule announcement arrives amid a busy fall in NWA for sports fans, alongside developments like the Northwest Arkansas Commission looking at tolls for I-42 funding. Basketball remains a major draw in Benton County, and this schedule keeps the Razorbacks in the spotlight as they prepare for the upcoming season.

With major matchups against Virginia, Indiana, Michigan State, North Carolina, and Arizona, Arkansas is set for a nonconference slate that demands attention. Bud Walton Arena’s electric atmosphere during these games should make for memorable nights and provide a strong foundation heading into the heart of SEC play.
