Arkansas Department of Health hosting free maternal, women’s health event at Jones Center in Springdale

The Arkansas Department of Health will hold a free maternal and women’s health event on Saturday at the Jones Center, located at 922 E. Emma Ave. in Springdale. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is part of the department’s Claim Your Care campaign, which aims to connect women directly with the healthcare services and support they need.

This gathering is designed to make accessing maternal and postpartum healthcare more straightforward for Northwest Arkansas families. Attendees will have the chance to talk with local healthcare providers and get answers to questions about a range of topics including maternal health, postpartum care, family planning, and immunizations. The event also offers information about the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program and breastfeeding support options available in the region.

For families with infants, the event will distribute free Size One diapers and baby wipes, courtesy of Walmart, on a first-come, first-served basis. It’s a small but meaningful boost for parents managing the many expenses that come with a new baby.

Bringing these services under one roof at the Jones Center makes it easier for women to find resources without hopping from one office to another, especially in a busy region like Northwest Arkansas where shifts in growth can sometimes outpace local healthcare infrastructure. Springdale, a key city in Benton County, sees steady demand for maternal and family health services as it grows.

Maternal and women’s health has been a growing focus across Arkansas due to persistent challenges around access, especially for postpartum care. The Arkansas Department of Health’s campaign acknowledges these barriers and provides an opportunity for women who might otherwise delay medical visits to connect with support on their own terms.

The inclusion of breastfeeding support reflects a statewide recognition of the health benefits breastfeeding provides to both mother and child. Support services at the event will help nursing mothers get advice, find community resources, and discuss breastfeeding challenges in an informed setting.

Family planning services will also be emphasized, with providers available to discuss contraceptive options and reproductive health education. Immunizations will be covered as well, helping ensure that maternal and infant health protocols are up to date, an important factor in community health outcomes.

Organizing this event in Springdale’s Jones Center brings these resources to a familiar and accessible place for many locals. The center’s location near Emma Avenue offers good access for Springdale residents as well as families from neighboring Bentonville, Rogers, and Fayetteville who want to take advantage of the free services without making a longer trip to Little Rock or other parts of the state.

Healthcare access events like this are particularly valuable in an area where some families face logistical or financial barriers. Bringing care providers face-to-face in a no-cost, no-pressure environment encourages early engagement in preventive health, which can have lasting benefits for mothers and children alike.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to arrive early given the first-come, first-served nature of the diaper and baby wipes giveaway. No registration is needed to attend, making the event as open as possible to area women, especially those who might benefit most from a chance to connect with care and community resources directly.

For anyone juggling the demands of pregnancy, new parenthood, or ongoing women’s health needs, this event could be a helpful stop in making healthcare feel a bit more manageable and supportive in Northwest Arkansas.
