The Ninth Annual Arkansas Country Music Awards will take place Monday at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, bringing together the state’s independent country artists for an evening of performances and recognition.
This year’s event marks the latest chapter in what has become a key date on the Arkansas country music calendar. Hosted at the UCA’s Farris Center, the awards show typically draws performers and fans from across the state, celebrating homegrown talent that rarely makes it onto the national stage. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the show starting at 7 p.m.
Nominated artists this year include Cliff and Susan Prowse, a Little Rock-based duo recognized in four categories, including Entertainer of the Year. The Prowses have been fixtures on the Arkansas country scene for years, known for their tight harmonies and down-to-earth songwriting. Other nominees span genres within country music, from traditional honky-tonk to more contemporary sounds, reflecting the diversity of the state’s independent scene.
The Arkansas Country Music Awards started in 2018 as a way to spotlight local artists who often struggle for visibility amid the dominance of Nashville’s mainstream country industry. Organizers say the event is about more than handing out trophies—it’s a chance for musicians, fans, and industry folks to connect in a setting that feels more like a community gathering than a corporate showcase.
“We wanted to create something that felt authentic to Arkansas,” said event organizer Sean Clancy. “These are real artists telling real stories, and they deserve a platform.”
Monday’s lineup includes performances by several nominees, with past winners and newcomers sharing the stage. In addition to the main awards, the evening will feature a fan-voted category, giving attendees a direct voice in who takes home at least one trophy. Merch booths and meet-and-greets are also planned, offering fans a chance to connect with their favorite artists up close.
Tickets are still available at the door for $20, though seating is limited. The Farris Center, located at 201 Donaghey Ave. in Conway, is a familiar venue for regional events and concerts, offering an intimate setting that suits the evening’s grassroots vibe.
While the Arkansas Country Music Awards is a statewide event, it has particular resonance in Northwest Arkansas, where a growing number of musicians and songwriters call home. Artists from Fayetteville, Springdale, and Bentonville have been increasingly visible at past ceremonies, reflecting the region’s expanding creative community. With the Walmart AMP booking major national acts and local venues hosting regular showcases, NWA’s music scene has been quietly building momentum.
For those who can’t make it to Conway, a livestream will be available through the Arkansas Country Music Awards social media pages. Organizers say they’re hoping to expand the broadcast setup in future years to reach even more fans across the state.
Whether you’re a longtime supporter of Arkansas country or just curious about the local music scene, Monday’s awards offer a snapshot of the talent that’s been growing in the shadows of the bigger stages. And if history’s any indication, a few of tonight’s nominees might be headlining bigger venues sooner than anyone expects.
